Environmental & Health Service

The council has a pivotal role to play in environmental management. These amongst others include regulation and education. Increasingly, the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA is pursuing initiatives to improve the environmental landscape. Such initiatives are storm water improvements, waste education, and biodiversity protection initiatives.

The Environmental department promotes public health through enlightenment, public education, issuance of abatement notice and enforcement of environmental laws.

In the Ikoyi Obalende LCDA, this department does the following:

  • House to house inspection
  • Refuse control and waste management
  • Food control and inspection
  • Environmental sanitation
  • Health education
  • Flood abatement
  • Enforcement of environmental sanitation and public health laws
  • Prevention of street traders
  • School inspection
  • Supervision and control of Environmental service provider
  • Market Sanitation
  • Pest control
  • Corpse and dead animal removal
  • Tree planting
  • Pollution Control, amongst others

The department continues to work towards a cleaner Ikoyi Obalende.

Mr. Odu Olufemi Abayomi – Head of Department

Mr. Odu is the head of the environment department and is responsible for overall cleanliness of our LCDA. He is always ready to attend to issues that border on environmental sanitation.

About the LCDA


Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area was carved out of the old Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

The council with territorial size of 28square kilometres has an estimated population of about three hundred and forty two thousand (342,000) inhabitants, made up of predominantly Yorubas, Ibos and Hausas.
