Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA Partners With Nigeria’s Leading Recruitment Platform Jobbberman To Train 5000 Residents For Job Placement In Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA

Lagos, Nigeria – 25th January, 2022 Ikoyi- Obalende LCDA partners with Jobberman, Nigeria’s leading recruitment platform to create 5000 Jobs for young people within the LCDA as part of its drive to tackle unemployment among young people. A public-private partnership (PPP) in line with @theglobalgoals SDG 17, this partnership aims to train young people aged (18-35) in soft skills and place them into dignified and fulfilling work through Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA Job Center and the Jobberman platform.

This partnership is part of Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal led administration’s drive to ensure that no one is left behind in the fulfilment of his administration’s promises alongside Jobberman’s Young Africa Works’ mandate to train five million young Nigerians and place three million of them in dignified employment by 2025. The Ikoyi- Obalende LCDA has prioritized human capital development as a major objective in the 2022 budget of the administration tagged ‘’budget of Sustainability and Human Capital Development’’ hence the importance of this partnership. Jobberman is the only recruitment services platform in Nigeria that offers training and placement of candidates in dignified and fulfilling employment. This training program equips young people (18-35) with critical tools, to help them transition into their new roles and increase workplace productivity.

Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA and Jobbermans partnership aim to build awareness on opportunities in the Digital, Agriculture and Creative Sector and beyond through collaboration on events. The partnership will involve community leaders as well as other key decision-makers.

According to Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal, The Executive Chairman Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, we are delighted to work with Jobberman as this partnership is geared towards raising the bar on this administration’s previous achievements in human capital development where we have supported over 4,000 residents through our skills acquisition and training, grant programs which in turn provided access to business capital and work tools like grinding machines, freezers, generators amongst others which has catalyzed more self-employment opportunities and better means to generate income for residents in the community, with women representing the majority of the beneficiaries as we promote gender equality.

According to Ore Boboye, CEO of Jobberman Nigeria represented by the Head of Communications, Sheila Ojei “We are delighted to be working with the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA and community leaders to address the issue of unemployment in that region and to play our part in providing young Nigerians with access to dignified roles, which offer a clear path to self-sustenance. Nigeria is full of talented and hardworking young people. However, the current structure of the jobs market means many are unable to make the most of their skills and talents.  This is why it is important to join forces with key stakeholders to equip young people with the skills they need and to link them effectively to dignified work opportunities.”

The most recent data from Statista  puts the combined unemployment and underemployment rates in Lagos State at 37.14  percent – a figure that will almost certainly be exacerbated by the impact of COVID-19.
